Charities we work with

This year we will be working with some great local charities including Shelter. Shelter is a registered charity that campaigns to end homelessness and bad housing in Great Britain. It gives advice, information and advocacy to people in need, and tackles the root causes of bad housing by lobbying government and local authorities for new laws and policies to improve the lives of homeless and badly housed people.

The team at Shelter do some amazing work. The Advice, Support and Guidance (ASG) teams help people struggling to keep a roof over their head by providing face-to-face expert advice on three key areas: Housing, Welfare and Financial Wellbeing. 82 households were supported – a household could be an individual or 2, 3, 4 or more people living in the household.

The Chairty Shelter have a contract to provide advocacy at Birkenhead County Court to tenants who are defending housing possession proceedings, 42 households were supported which is fantastic. We will have some more exciting news coming soon.

Stick ‘n’ Step is a charity that enables, inspires and supports children with cerebral palsy and their families. They support children and young people with cerebral palsy up to the age of 25 through the provision of free weekly conductive education (CE) sessions.
Stick N Step's sessions are delivered by highly skilled professionals from specialist centres in Wallasey and Runcorn and are designed to help each child reach their personal potential in terms of mobility, confidence, and independence.

YMCA believes in fairness and opportunity. There are essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life: a safe home; acceptance; guidance; friendship; physical and mental health; academic support; employment skills; and access to real opportunities. Many young people have never known these things; other people have lost one or more as they grew up, but we all need them. At YMCA, they provide these critical foundations for a fresh, strong start for young people and a better quality of life in the community.
